Paintings of Still Lifes and Interiors
Recent Still Lifes 2018-2019During 2018 and 2019 I painted a new series of still life paintings in acrylics on canvas based on compositions of some of my older paintings. In these new still lifes, my aim was to imbue the paintings with intense energy based on strong compositions, intense colors, and powerful use of brush strokes.

Early still LifesThe still life paintings in this group were some of the earliest works I painted when I first began to paint in oil paints many years ago. These paintings were a series of experiments in the use of brush stroke, color, and composition, and were the basis of later paintings of interiors as well as abstract paintings that came later.

Interiors and fantasyThese early paintings of interiors and also paintings of whimsical fantasy were an ongoing development that began with the early paintings of still lifes and that continued with the interiors, some of which became fairly abstract. To some extent my aim was never to become a completely abstract painter because my feeling was always that the real world offered an infinity of richness of detail, design, objects, textures, and rhythms. In that sense I was never attracted to purely non-objective art.
